Observation and Reflection from a Typhoon

Still remember that there was a Severe Typhoon called Vicente during 21^st to 24^th July, it was a powerful typhoon and hoisted the highest Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 10 in the early morning of 24^th July by the Hong Kong Observatory. This was the second time to hoist Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 10 in Hong Kong, and the first was Typhoon York in 1999.

We were happy we had a day off of tutorial, however, there was many accident happened during strong wind. Due to the fallen trees crushed the cable and power supply system in the Tai Po Market Station, the train suspended services. Yet, MTR didn’t arrange the feeder bus service for the affected passengers, over hundred passengers forced to remain at the station and some passengers were angry with the inadequacy service. Btw, I think that MTR was not at fault in this case, they were based on the passenger safety.

Also, there was some aftermath after the typhoon. Many trees collapsed were reported, trees collapsed was a serious accident, the authorities received 1033 reports of fallen trees, also received a landslide report and 7 reports of flooding. Due to the fallen trees, the bus routes forced to stop services or diversion.

The most horrible aftermath is the plastic pellets polluted the marine. There were six containers fell into the sea from a freighter during the Typhoon Vicente, and leaked six plastic bags which were filled with polypropylene, there was total 150 tons of plastic pellets spread the south of Hong Kong waters and beaches. These plastic pellets completely polluted the marine, even the food chain and fisheries. In the last few days many volunteers went to the affected beaches such as Discovery Bay, Lamma Island, etc., to clean up the plastic pellets. However, there are numerous of plastic pellets so it would be taken a long time.

People always said that Hong Kong is a peace place cos it didn’t have many serious natural disasters such as earthquake or flooding. However, the Typhoon Vicente really caused a big harm for Hong Kong.

Cooking, Food and Love

Cooking is a wonderful thing, food can reflect our love. To show your love, I think cooking is a good way. Food also can bring happiness to everyone, when a person eating your food and feeling great, won't you feel joyful too?

I do remember when I was small, I've tried my first cooking time with my mum, um...... Not a real cooking? That's just making sushi. I love eating and I can eat my handmade sushi, I felt extremely amazing. My mother bought a machine that can make sushi easily, cos that machine was safe so my mum let me "cook" together. There was different type of food and these made me feel excited, you know, a greedy cat will sneak some and eat, however, I was caught by my mum. LOL Sliced all the ingredients and put them onto the rice, then wrapped them with a piece of seaweed, finally rolled them tightly to make sure the ingredients didn't drop, my mum cut them in small pieces so that it was easy to eat. :-) That cooking time didn't take a long time, but cooking with family was a blessed time. I wish I can have these wonderful time again, yet my mum are now busy for work and tired to cook, I would rather she can take more time to rest instead of cooking.

     

My mum returned home with heavy footsteps, looking her put down her bag and lay on sofa for a rest, I just want to cook a meal for her. That's my first time to cook a meal, not to destroy to the meal and the kitchen, I chose to cook a simple meal, perhaps it won't be food poisoning, right? :-\ Pan-fried an egg and some sausages, boiled a dish of vegetable and that's the most healthy way. Finally reboiled a bowl of soup and filled a bowl of rice, that's my first time to cook a meal, a simple meal. Fortunately, my mum didn't be food poisoning at last. LOL In the process of cooking meal, I can feel that my mum was exhausting to cook for us everyday, don't you think that?

       

Cooking is funny and interesting, cooking also can show our love, especially the family's love. We should thank to our family to cook a marvelous meal for us, and we should cherish these treasure. :-) Don't always go outside and more stay at home, have a meal with family!

My Learning Experience - Joy and Challenges

Feeling very sick these day, WTH...... :-\  I'm quite easy to get ill, I hope I won't get ill on the school day or examination day, it's a hardships for me.


"No pain no gain." This sentence can be used in our learning or study, working hard is a vital part of learning. I still remember that how I confronted my THS (Tourism and Hospitality Studies) examination last year, that was my first time spent about a whole month, staying in library's studying room with my friend and studying THS constantly. That year's THS examination was held on the first day so I studied THS most, studied all the THS notes and recited all the useful main points, I never thought I must get a full mark, I only wish I can pass the examination. Surprisingly, when I got back my test paper, I didn't expect I can get these scores for me, the scores was not very high, but for me, I'm already satisfy and it was unexpectedly.

When you pay much time for study and you got a good result, you may find that it is sweet. Instead of examination and test, dictation is important for learning. Pay an hour to recite a dialogue seriously, you may find that you were happy when you got a 100 marks. :) However, it seems that my memory is getting worse...... :-\

     

Something good and something bad, there must be some problems or challenges between the learning process. I hate to get ill when my test is coming...... It is really hard to study with an unhealthy body, right? It won't have any energy to study. OMG I do remember I got a fever during the examination week, feeling disgusting with high temperature. After taking the medicines, I felt sleepy, however, I need to study for the examination. The fever to be a devil to me that week, doing everything with a weak body, it was very unbearable...... Under the insufficient time, I didn't get a good mark that examination, I only got pass.

 
We shouldn't think negatively when we got a bad result, we should take a introspection and do better next time. Promise yourself, "Don't be lazy.". HKDSE is coming, the examination will hold on next March, we are the one who will take the HKDSE next year. Time is running, we should pay more attention on every lessons. "Never give up", we can't be a loser in this competition, so guys, you all know what should we do in the future days?

Feeling sleepy with the medicines, it's time for me to take a rest...... Anyway, we should take a rest when we work hard. :-\

My First Encounter with African Culture - Music and Dance

It's 2HOT these day, right? :-( Still remember that I had an activity about African culture at school and that day was hot too :-x

After our final exam, school planned a few activities to us, the most impressed me was the one about "African Culture - Music and Dance". What do you imagine about African? Drum? Beatbox? or Negro? We all felt shocked & excited to meet a Negro in our school that day!!!!! LOL That Negro was very passion to everyone, he loved to invite our schoolmates to dance with him LOL even teachers & principal too! ROFL!

                      

Feeling hot, but the atmosphere was great and high! This activity distributed in two parts, first part the Negro taught us to get the beat, you know, the beat is very important for the music. After getting the beat gradually skillful, the Negro started singing under our beats, it's quite funny cos we don't know his language. LOL We tried to sing with him, surprisingly, what a perfect fit! :-)

After singing, the Negro passed the African drums to us. An African drum can be small, however, it can be heavy. :-\ African drum can play a loud sound, even though you hit it softly, really amazing. :-) Playing the drums, singing joyfully, and the Negro suddenly danced very  exciting. Someone laughed, and someone shocked, like me. :-| When the Negro invited our schoolmates to dance with him, I'm glad that I sat the last row and he didn't choose me. Also, some schoolmates were shy, their faces became red, oh feeling sorry to them. :-(

The most interesting part must be the Negro invited our teachers to dance with him!!!!! However, all the teachers hid or ran away at the first time, I can understand their feelings. :-\ The Negro didn't feel discouraged and invited the teachers again, finally Mr. Wu was caught. All of Mr. Wu's fans (yes, the fans were his students LOL) clapped loudly to welcome him. After Mr. Wu's dance, all of us knew that his can dance very well actually!

This activity was really fantastic !! :-) Although that day was really hot, we all enjoyed very much. And now I can still remember that amazing activity :-D and the funny Negro! This activity let me learn more about African culture, and Africa is not only has Negro. :-P Thanks for the African culture, we can listen more wonderful music ♪
